The teacher, Pradeep Nayak, had "allegedly" subjected the students to physical torture. Nayak has been charged with beating up V Class students for created noise in the classroom on Friday.

Due to the capital punishment, the students caught fever following which their parents complained against Nayak to Bhatkal block education officer Devidas Moger. Moger visited the school on Monday and took stock of the situation.

At the Tuesday's meeting, the SDMC authorities and the villagers took a written apology from Naik and warned him of stern action if he repeated the "mistake".
