Condemn the disturbance of PFI public meeting on Social Justice by the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.
While Makkah Masjid blast terrorists are free to organize public meetings, the secular and Democratic organizations are prohibited

Commissioner of Police Hyderabad violated the constitution of India

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee issued a statement condemning the disturbance of Popular Front of India meeting. It stated that in recent days the attitude of Mr. Abdul Khayum Khan, Commissioner of Police towards Muslims has become undemocratic and biased. He is playing with the democratic and fundamental rights of Muslims in the name of law. He does not allow the Muslims to hold a demonstration, meeting, and rally and even he does not permit Muslims to have a meeting in the four walls or function halls and orders his subordinates to lock the function hall where the meeting is organized. Whereas, the training camps of Hindutva are on peak level all over the city. Weapons’ training is given; hatred literature, slogans and songs are prepared and taught. Commissioner of Police Mr. A.K.Khan has given them free hands to carry out these activities.

Whereas, Popular Front of India which is a socio-welfare organization, when they organized social justice programme, it was prevented. The function hall owners are sacred and threatened. Even if the programme is organized in the outskirts i.e. at Pahad e shareef, it is also obstructed. The hundreds of participants who had come from various districts to participate in the meeting, they were locked in the function hall. Para-military forces were deployed. The chairman of Popular Front of India is also stopped to enter into the hall. When the Civil Liberties team entered the hall at 7pm, we were surprised to see that the hall was turned into a police camp. When we enquired, we came to know that even that place had no permission for a meeting. Mr. Lateef Mohd Khan, enquired with the police Inspectors of various police stations who were deployed there, they said that they are just following the instructions of higher authorities. Commissioner said, prohibitory orders are issued. Therefore, any meeting cannot take place.

Commissioner of police should know that the prohibitory orders are for public places, but not on the meetings that are to be held in the four walls and the police cannot interfere. Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad is suppressing the Muslims just to please the political bosses. Civil Liberties believe that the Commissioner of Police has violated the constitution of India. The basic fundamental rights have been reviled. Human rights have been gravely shattered. Civil Rights have been curbed. Civil Liberties want to clear that the government is using A.K.Khan to suppress and repress the Muslim community. It is a moment of concern for the citizens of Hyderabad that the terrorists who are responsible for the Makkah Masjid bomb blast have the complete freedom to organize programmes whereas, the people who believe on secularism and democracy does not have freedom to organize on the issue of social justice.

Civil Liberties demands that the Commissioner of Police instead of following the instructions of political bosses should respect the constitution of India, follow the rule of law and opt the democratic values. He should not bring hurdles to the programmes organized by the Muslims. He should apologize unconditionally to the responsible persons of Popular Front of India. He should also remember that if he prohibits the democratic programmes of people, then people can adopt aggressive attitude. If this happens then the Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad will be responsible for such situation.

Lateef Mohd Khan
General Secretary

Quote of the Day
Women are supposed to be very calm generally: but women feel just as men feel...they suffer from too rigid a restraint, too absolute a stagnation, precisely as men would suffer...It is thoughtless to condemn them, or laugh at them, if they seek to do more or learn more than custom has pronounced necessary for their sex.

Charlotte Bronte
(1816-1855)
