Four minor girls rescued from traffickers

RANCHI: Four minor girls, who were rescued by police from the clutches of traffickers in Delhi and Varanasi, were brought to Ranchi on Thursday.
The girls have been handed over to Childline, an NGO, to make arrangements for sending them back home.
Three of the girls rescued from Delhi revealed that they had run away from their home without informing their parents after middlemen lured them of better life and money in Delhi. They admitted that their hopes shattered when they were ditched and did not got a single penny.

Ahmedabad:The Gujarat High Court has sought details from the state government on the steps taken under the Unorganised Workers Social Security Act, 2008 and on any of the schemes framed under it. The HC has also asked the state government to furnish details of the State Social Security Board and the schemes under it .
Govt admits poor show in implementing tribal rights Act

GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government on Saturday admitted in the state assembly that Gujarat's performance in implementing the tribal rights Act under which all forest dwellers cultivating land till December 13, 2005 as the cut-off date should be made its rightful owners is poor. Ending a debate on tribal rights act, initiated by Congress MLA Amarsinh Vasava, state tribal affairs minister Mangubhai Patel said, " So far, land has been distributed to just 7,683 tribals as against 1.85 lakh applications."
Indigenous people have right to modern amenities: PC

New Delhi, Dec 10 (PTI) With the country witnessing unrest in many tribal dominated regions, Home Minister P Chidambaram today said indigenous people have the right to acquire all modern amenities and become part of the mainstream. "Indigenous people have the righ not only to preserve their indigenous culture but acquire all modern amenities and become part of the mainstream," he said addressing a function on the occasion of Human Rights Day here.
