As many as 76 boys from Manipur and Assam have now been rescued from a home in Kanyakumari, while around seventy girls from this home who were taken to Bangalore have gone missing.
Rajasthan to legalize child marriages?

Jaipur, Jan 23: Amidst strong protest, the Rajasthan government has decided to frame a law for registration of child marriages.

Justifying its move, the government said that the decision does not give legal sanction to child marriages, adding that the bill was passed in 2009.
The process to formulate has already been started, the government said.
The state government 's decision has drawn crticism from all corners, with some alleging that the decision contradicts the marriage registration law.

Examining the issue in the light of submissions made by Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium, a Bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and A K Pattnaik said: "In a civilized country you cannot have the problem of this magnitude. We need to identify the places where it happens and strengthen implementation mechanism."
Child worker found chained in Delhi eatery, rescued

A child labourer, who was trafficked from his home in Bihar to Delhi, was found chained and working in a Delhi roadside restaurant. He was later rescued by the labour department and a child rights NGO.
R.S. Chaurasia of the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), the NGO that assisted the rescue mission, Thursday said in a statement that the boy went missing from his native village in Katihar district of Bihar in August 2009 before being found at an eatery in central Delhi this month.

The teacher, Pradeep Nayak, had "allegedly" subjected the students to physical torture. Nayak has been charged with beating up V Class students for created noise in the classroom on Friday.
Due to the capital punishment, the students caught fever following which their parents complained against Nayak to Bhatkal block education officer Devidas Moger. Moger visited the school on Monday and took stock of the situation.
Disabled kids may be entitled to quota in nearby pvt schools

New Delhi Children with any kind of disability may now be entitled to reservation in admission in private schools in the neighbourhood.
The Union Cabinet approved introduction of a bill in Parliament to amend the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 for the purpose.
The amendment to the Act also aims at changing the mandate of school management committees constituted under the Act for aided minority institutions.
