An appeal to all the secular and democratic forces to come forward to end the Atrocities and Social boycott of Muslims by the Reddy landlords at Phool Mamidi village, Nawabpet Mandal of Ranga Reddy District

Muslims have become refugee in their own Village

It is a Grave Violation of Human Rights

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee strongly condemns the inhuman act of Muslim community boycott by the Hindus led by upper caste Reddy landlords to exhibit their hegemony. These people are preventing the Muslims to expand and construct the Masjid on adjacent Waqf land. They are socially boycotted and intimidated by local Hindutva elements. Those mischievous goons in the village have imposed sanctions on the Muslims community, that neither any person in the village can do business with them nor give or take any services from them. The local Muslims have informed us that all this started when the local Hindu mob led by Reddy landlord started claiming the Waqf land of the local Masjid. When Muslims resisted their move they have been branded as local enemies and then imposed sanctions on them. The Waqf board had already done its survey and established that the 216 yard of land belongs to the Waqf board, but still those notorious elements are stubborn on their stand.

The boycott today has entered its 10th day, and with no response and inaction from the authorities has made Muslim villagers helpless. This atmosphere of fear had forced many Muslims to leave their homes and migrate to other villages. The Muslims in the village are not even allowed to perform prayers in the local Masjid.

It is a matter of deep concern that Muslims have become refugee in their own village. The inaction of the district administration and police in this matter raises serious questions regarding the concern of police towards Muslims. It seems that law and order has become hostage in the hands of Reddy landlords and for this purpose they are using SCs and BCs. There is a fear that this confrontation could lead to communal riots in the village. It is a high time for the administration and police to act otherwise it may be too late and the situation may go out of control.

Therefore, we appeal all the SCs and BCs of the village not to become the tools in the hands of Reddy landlords in the name of hindu religion. In fact through using SCs anf BCs against Muslims, these reddy landlords want to establish their control over the land.

Therefore, we demand that the right to life and liberty of Muslims of Phool Mamadi village, Nawabpet Mandal, Rangareddy District should be restored. The rule of law and justice should be upheld. Action should be taken against those elements who are taking law and order in their hands. It is the duty of the state government to provide protection the Muslim community and to maintain communal harmony as well.

Quote of the Day
Women are supposed to be very calm generally: but women feel just as men feel...they suffer from too rigid a restraint, too absolute a stagnation, precisely as men would suffer...It is thoughtless to condemn them, or laugh at them, if they seek to do more or learn more than custom has pronounced necessary for their sex.

Charlotte Bronte
(1816-1855)
